Shortly after sharing their widely accepted single titled “Kana,” featuring Wizkid, Nigerian rapper/singer and YBNL boss, Olamide, has finally shared the official music video for the collaborative effort.
The new single, Kana, was produced by one half of the production duo, Legendury Beatz, Mutay and was mixed and mastered by STG.
The visual of the new single was released on Friday and has started generating reactions due to Wizkid’s absence in the action-packed music video.
A lot of reactions on Olamide’s YouTube page revolved around how Wizkid played a “Drake” on Olamide — meaning Wizkid did exactly what Drake did to him by not showing up for the video of their collaborative joint titled “Come Closer”.
NaijaNet TV said, “This vid look(s) rushed, why is WizKid absent? Or rat 🐀 ate his passport?.”
Eric Monday added by saying, “Wizkid is feeling bossy to feature in the video.”
Another commentator, CashBuzz, said the video had no direct correlation with the song.
“Video and song don’t even correlate at all. Song was better off without this … video,” he said.
The new single comes years after their successful 2010 collaboration, “Omo Toh Shan”, which became an instant hit after its debut.
At the time, the Starboy Entertainment act (Wizkid) was still signed to Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).
In 2015, they reunited again to reignite their musical chemistry on a track titled, “Confam Ni”, a single off Olamide and Phyno’s collaborative project “2Kings”.
The song, which sees the artistes expressing love and affection, quickly reminds one of their earlier days in music, a style that fetched them the huge fan base they enjoy today.
