Ambode urges supporters to obtain voters card
Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode
Governor Akinwunmi Ambode has urged his supporters particularly members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to boost his second term election.
Ambode, who was represented by the Special Adviser on Religious Matter, Verrals Kolawole at a forum where he was endorsed for reelection, said the solidarity gathering and second term endorsement and continuous praise singing his return in 2019 without necessarily following up by obtaining voter cards, which qualifies individuals to vote in the next election, are not enough.
The endorsement was organised at a prayer meeting held at Epe and entitled: ‘Prayer and Endorsement/Commendation Programme for Ambode and National Leader of APC, Bola Tinubu initiated by Balogun of Epe Kingdom, Chief Lanre Razaq.
The governor said Lagos is the most peaceful state in the country today because of the support of the masses particularly the people of Epe.
He said, “It is because you believe in peace, that is why you have been praying for peace in the state and there has been peace. The peace currently enjoyed in our state could also be hinged on the recent inauguration of Nigeria Inter-Religion Council (NIREC) in every local government, which brings together both Christians and Muslims leaders with a view to nip in the bud religious upheavals.”
He added: “Endorsement without PVC is not authenticated and so, endorsement with PVC is the real thing to do.”
Razak, while pointing out the fact that it was the power of prayers that brought back President Muhammadu Buhari from the jaw of illness, said there is nothing prayers cannot do including the reelection of Ambode in 2019.
The Balogun of Epe Kingdom also commended Tinubu and Ambode, saying both of them demonstrated excellent performances that are visible in Lagos.
Said he, “Ambode’s performance has beaten our imagination since 2015 he assumed office hence the reason we are staking all to ensure he continues in 2019.”
He disclosed that all religious organizations in Lagos are committed to praying for the success of the incumbent government, Nigeria, Ambode and Tinubu for protection.
Among the three senatorial districts in the state, Lagos East has organised reelection endorsements for Ambode thrice while Epe division has done twice.
However one of the reasons Epe division appears to be championing the 2019 reelection and also soliciting support of the central and west senatorial districts is Ambode is from the area coupled with the fact that the two other zones have produced governors in the person of Tinubu and Babatunde Fashola.
